Local Fishing Report 19/3/2010

Friday, March 19, 2010 by tackleworldmoruya

Hey Guys - hope  everyone has had an enjoyable week.  The weather has been really good here with a slight return to summer.

Moruya River

Good catches of perch are still being had on surface lures, inparticular the "walk the dog" lures such as Baby Rover in the River 2 Sea range.  Whiting are also still on the chew both up the back of the system as well as down the front.  Poppers and live worms working a treat on these guys.

Team Tackle World Mark had the day off and fished down the front of the system to be rewarded with a great session of catch and release on bream, tailor and travelly - his success was due to throwing SX40's hard up against the rocks.

The "wall"  is still firing well with catches of salmon, tailor and sharks of an evening.  Your best bet here are pillies or metal slices for the salmon and tailor.

The  whiting and flathead are still on the chew down the front of the system, once again hardbodies and fresh beach worms the go.

Congratulations go to 4 year old Jai who landed himself a 95 cm flathead, with an estimated weight of 6.6 kg!!

Beaches and Rocks

Watch out for those Mako's!  The sharks are also enjoying the fact that Tuross is "open"!  Meringo has seen the Bronze Whalers working a treat of an evening as well.  If your a surfer I'd think twice at the moment!

Good catches of whiting, flathead and bream are still being had as well as the standard salmon and tailor.

The current is still mild and the water temperature good, but it looks as if a "cold" current came through down low which slowed the fishing down this week.  You may have to travel a bit to find the fish, however having said that there have been good reports of flathead catches off Broulee.

Enjoy the weekend and the week ahead and remember "every day's a good day for fishing"!!
