A big hello to everyone from here on Hamilton Island!
Unfortunately, we've experienced winds up here for the last few
days so there's no fishing report from the Whitsunday's, however
down home has proved to be rewarding. Here goes for this
weeks report.
Moruya River
Extremely good catches of bream and flathead have been had this
week, both up around the hospital and down towards the front of the
system. Try the new Berkley 3B Crank Puppy Dog, also
available in Fat Dog shallow or deep diver. Reports of big
perch are also being had from above the hospital around the
boulders using Squidgy Pro Wrigger Bloodworm 80 mm. Head
further upstream for some absolute cracker bass being caught and
released at the moment on surface poppers.
Tuross
Good catches are still being had throughout the whole system,
with much the same results as Moruya River at the moment. All
in all great fishing is being had!
Rocks & Beaches
Good catches of tailor and flathead have been reported off the
"wall" on pillies, with both salmon and tailor off the windsock as
well. Good reports of bream have also been reported on the
southern side of the Tuross entrance.
Offshore
Captain Ron reports good catches of snapper in 20 metres of
water off both fish bait and Shimano Lucanis jigs. Head out
to the 40-50 metre mark to be rewarded with flathead, gummy
sharks, chinamen jackets and good mowies, with the occasional
pigfish thrown in. The water temperature is sitting at 16.4
degrees celcius at the moment, with a mild current running
necessitating the use of a sea anchor.
Remember, we are now open Sundays until 12.30 pm for your
convenience. Drop in and say g'day and remember "every day's
a good day for fishing ... "
