Moruya River
Preddies Wharf and the "hole in the wall" are fishing extremely
well at the moment for yellowfin bream. These healthy fish are
being caught mainly on cubes of pilchards, however they would
respond well to soft plastics if you'd like to give them a go.
Quarry Wharf is producing some nice Trevally and Tailor, both on
bait and metal lures.
Tuross
We launched at Steel Bridge and headed upstream and were
rewarded with a healthy catch and release session of Bream, Estuary
Perch and Tailor right amongst the snags. Best lures proved to be
Atomic Hardz in Grey Ghost colour and Strike Pro Blades. Quite a
bit of fresh water is coming down from the mountains at the moment,
which should prove beneficial for the Bass to spawn.
Beaches and Rocks
Yellowfin Bream, Salmon and Tailor are all being caught both up
and down the coastline in the deeper gutters. Good catches of
Drummer are still being had off the headlands on both cunji and
peeled prawns. At the time of writing the "winds" were picking up
quite a bit, so please be careful if fishing off the rocks.
Offshore
Captain Ron onboard Winda-Whopper has had a brilliant weeks
fishing with one session landing 17 different species of fish! Nice
Snapper up to 5 kg, extra large Nannyguy, Pigfish and
Leatherjackets, as well as Mowies, Jackass Mowies, Flathead, school
Sharks and Gummy sharks were amongst the species landed. Be
prepared to do some travelling if you'd like to enjoy the spoils of
this abundance of fish - where to go? Head down to Coila just
outside of the Marine Park in the 40-45 m mark!
Team Gone Fishin' member Evan landed himself some very nice
Snapper, as well as an assortment of reef fish straight out the
front of Moruya on Squidgy Flickbaits 145 mm. An assortment of Gulp
7 inch Jerk Shads are now in store and should also prove lethal on
the Snapper!
Have a great weeks fishing!
