Local Fishing Report 18/12/09

Friday, December 18, 2009 by tackleworldmoruya

Hey guys here goes for this week's fishing report:

Moruya River - Team Tackle World Moruya member Matt reeled in some great catches of
flathead down the front of the river, around Preddy's Wharf on Burkley Powerbait 3 inch
Minnows and whiting and bream on fresh nippers and live beach worms - which can be
purchased in store now!

Tuross - Extra large flathead in extra large numbers have been caught on both Stiffy
Poppers and Gulp 4 inch Swimming Mullet - please do the right thing and release the
breeders as keeping them alive ensures fish for years to come! Plenty of bream are
being caught around the edges and flats on Stiffy Poppers, with the whiting down the
front prefering fresh nippers and beach worms.

Rocks and Beaches - Racecoarse beach had been thriving with bream and whiting with bait
of choice being live beach worms with the occasional salmon also on the chew. Not much
to report this week in regards to the rocks as the fierce winds have been keeping
fisherman at bay - with good reason!

Offshore - Tackle World Moruya member Evan went out with Captain Ron from Winda Woppa
Fishing Charters on Sunday and was rewarded with catches of up to 150 fish caught and
released including snapper, mowies, pigfish, large tiger flathead and some huge snotty
nosed trevala. Bait of choice for these species is fishbait and the most success was
coming from the 70m water mark. The kingies are starting to come on the chew now,
however, there are a lot of rats amongst them, so throw them back to fight another day.

Team Tackle World Moruya would like to wish all the locals and visiting tourists a safe
and Merry Christmas filled with plenty of great catches!
