Moruya River
Good reports this week on the flathead in the river both down the
front on the sand flats between quarry wharf and the entrance and
way up the back around Yarragee. These fish are being caught
on both soft plastics in the new Reaction baits and larger
Strike Pro diving lures. Some flounder, trevally, luderick
and whiting are also being caught on fresh nippers and
prawns.
Tuross
Tuross is fishing well with bream, flathead and whiting taking a
variety of lures from surface to metal vibes in the deep. The
ever-present lure stealing tailor are in good numbers around the
snags and leases with good size perch being caught further up
stream in the snags. The bass are slowly starting to come on
up in the fresh with the warmer weather.
Rocks and Beaches
Bream and drummer are the main species being caught around the
headlands this week on peeled prawns or cunji. Sharks are
still hanging around the breakwall during the late afternoons into
the evenings - a good size squid will do the trick here! A
few salmon are being caguht in the gutters on the beaches, bait of
choice is pilchards or metal slices.
Offshore
Captain Ron onboard Winda-Whoppper reports great catches of
flathead, mowies, snapper, gummy sharks, large pigfish and the
occasional kingfish. Head out to the 70 m mark for best
results as the water is a bit murky in close.
Until next week - keep fishing!!
